Although there were a multitude of camps throughout Mississippi, there were 4 major camps. They were Camp Clinton near Jackson, Camp McCain near Grenada, Camp Como in the northern Delta, and Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg. The 2 most famous camps were Camp Clinton and Camp Shelby. Camp Clinton was famous because it had the highest ranking German officials. There were 25 generals and several colonels, majors, and captains. Camp McCain- 7,700
Camp Shelby- 5,300
